2014 Green Lane Clean Up

In 2014 Green Cross Australia is leading a huge waste pick up across Queensland and we want your school to get involved!

Register now: School agreement and registration form

We will provide you with the tools and resources you need to clean up your local community's parks, creeks and beaches. Your school will work with other groups to make a positive difference and pick up rubbish that ends up in our waterways. GLD Kylie-don't wait 2 250

This is a great way to give your students and the wider school community a chance to make an important contribution to the reduction of waste in our natural environment!

If you particpate in the Green Lane Clean Up and are also involved in other green activities, you will become eligible for your first star through Keep Queensland Beautiful's program Cleaner Greener Schools!

What do I need to do

You need to hold two clean ups at the same location over 2014. The clean up needs to happen in a place that is important to your community, not in the school ground.

What does Green Cross Australia provide?

We're working with the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection, Keep Queensland Beautiful and Tangaroa Blue to facilitate this huge waste pick up.

To support you we will:

  • Provide a detailed 'How to run a Clean Up' plan, including safety information to minimize any risks to participan

  • A Waste Collection kit (including collection materials, data collection sheets and clickers).

  • We will link you with local environment or community groups to assist and offer expertise.

I want to get involved but I'm not based in Queensland

Fantastic! Unfortunately, we have only been funded to support Queensland schools - but that doesn't mean you can't facilitate your own waste pick up! Use our resources to help, email us for a copy

Why is it important?

Litter is a huge problem. It may seem harmless to some people, but it ends up in drains, in our waterways and eventually out to sea and then creates a whole world of havoc out there. It's up to as to act and its a simple as picking it up and putting it in the right place!

This program has been funded by the Everyone's Environment Grant program, through the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection.

You too can get involved...
