Green Lane Diary
Week Eight | Citizens - it's up to us
Are your students responsible citizens?

Every week we theme Green Lane Diary around big issues, like Week Eight's topic, ‘Citizens – it’s up to us’. We are all part of a community and we can all do our best to be good citizens. That means having respect for ourselves, others and also our beautiful planet.

If you're busy helping your community by working on your Green Lane Diary projects, we'd love to hear about them! Go to our special Tell Us What You're Doing page. We are starting to keep an eye out for great projects to win potential Green Lane Diary awards.

As usual, explore the teaching notes for some clever lesson ideas!
Exploring elections
It’s up to us to understand how our democracy works - especially with the upcoming election! Students may be too young to vote, but they can certainly be active. The important thing is to be positive and believe that kids can make a difference. And remember, politics can be fun - great resources are available on the Parliament of Australia website or Parliamentary Education Office or on this week's Green Lane Diary page.
